The Door We Call Death

Image
I, a couple of days ago had the opportunity to look at an awe inspired drawing. The artist is an amazing missionary.  In the drawing there was depleted our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. Most every picture that I have ever seen of the Savior He is doing something.  In this drawing the Savior had His eyes closed and His face in what I would describe as heart felt compassion for someone who was hurting beyond measure.  Who else would know that kind of pain and compassion than our Savior who died and suffered for us all.  The Savior was holding a young man in an embrace like He would never let go. On His hand that I did not immediately see, were the nail prints in his hand and wrist.  Though I immediately not only recognized, but also felt that it was a picture of our Savior, I did not know this young man. This young man also had his eyes closed. His young face seemed to echo one of being tired as if a weight weighed on him. He had a look of sadness written all ...

Exploitation

So we were forced to sing at ward conference on Sunday... therefore, I was exploited. Would not recommend.  It actually went fairly well, lol. We sang Worn by Tenth Avenue North, which I was kinda surprised Bishop let us, it's not a very hymn-ish song, lol. Bishop loved it tho so  Anyway, other than that it's been a great week! We started teaching 3 new people!!!! One of them, Lingy, had taken the lessons before, but they could never get her to church so they dropped her. I recently had the prompting to go and see her, so we did, and then started reading the BOM with her every Saturday. This past Saturday she asked a lot questions about garments and temples, which is a subject that usually overwhelms people, so we were a little hesitant, but after we explained the purpose of the temple garment, Lingy was like "how do I get to the temple????" It was so cool. Shes so in tune with the spirit and has complete and absolute trust in the Lord.  The next two people are a moth...

Pretty chill week... literally. Hahaha laugh at my jokes I'm hilarious. First of all, thank you to all you wonderful diamonds for your emails and love and words of encouragement ❤❤❤❤ I FREAKING LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! (Do you like my dignified missionary language?)  Anyway, highlights from this week:  ☆ We did service for a less-active member, and our service with him is always crazy. We cut wood and we welded once and we built a concrete counter top mold, and we glued pennies to the counter top and then moved that 300+ lb counter top. I got elbowed in the face in the process, so that was kinda cool.  ☆ We had a lesson with Rob which went really well. Hes making progress! He read a little from the BOM which was literally a miracle. Baby steps.  ☆ We had transfers!! Me and sis C are staying!! And sis Orton (my MTC comp) is pink washing WILLAMINA!!! So that's cool ❤ Shout out to ma girl ❤ Anyway, here's a spiritual thought from church!   "Behold all ye that kindle fire,...

Interesting week, just a few highlights: Tuesday- The senior couple in our district, the Williams, took us out to lunch then drove us to canby (which is like 2 hours away) for a doctor's appointment. So that took up like 5 hours but it was awesome, I LOVE the Williams  Then we saw John and Rebecca! (The couple who invited us to dinner) We were out finding and John drove by and honked at us and was like "Yo! Its freezing! You can stop by at our house to warm up!" So we did... and he seemed kinda surprised and slightly annoyed like yo if you're gonna invite the missionaries to your house then it's happening. #pranked  Wednesday- We started teaching a new person!! His name is DJ and he is a recent convert's (Christina) friend that is a boy (Read between the lines. Privacy laws. Gotta love em.) And so while we taught the first lesson he had Christina's kids, and the lil 2 yr old girl (Madi) climbed on to my lap (and that's a huge NO NO) and I just turned t...

Wow it's been a crazy week! (do I say that every week? Lol) anyway we saw a coyote (not really a dog but you know) in the street on friday!! It was CRAZY, sadly I dont have any cool battle scars or pictures cuz my fight or flight kicked in and yeeted me outta there  But we were walking down the street and we heard howling and a TON of dogs barking and going ham, and we're like 'what the heck????'. And me, being myself, walked straight towards the howling (we couldn't see the coyote cuz a trailer was blocking our view) and right when we turned the corner we saw this big ol' coyote chilling in the middle of the road, howling under the only street lamp. It was straight out of a movie! so ya that was freaking awesome.  Okay so like buckle up cuz this gon' be long. Anyway, I high-key almost came home again, lol, classic Syd, cuz I went and saw a counselor and took a questionnaire thingie thing that gave me a score at the end rating my anxiety level - the lower th...
