Bells Are Ringing Goats Are Screaming...
MERRY CRISIS!!! I mean Christmas... no I don't. hehe.
It's been a while!! SO much has happened....
for your convenience, and my sanity, I've made a "simple", bulleted list, summarizing my misadventures this month. Behold:
Got quarantined the day after transfers (the 8th) ..... We were absolutely FORBIDDEN to leave our apartments. Not even the church! I was losing my mind... I can't believe I did that for FIVE MONTHS. But our members took amazing care of us, And there was a lot of time to draw -- check out the pics
We were in a trio with one of the hermana's in our apartment for a couple days while her companion went to pick up a new missionary. She has since returned with said greenie and now there are 5 of us in the apt. It's a party to say the least.
We put on a live nativity for the community from the ground up, with absolutely no money, relying completely on member donations, and it was a huge success!!!! Sister Hebdon and I were shepherds so we got to play with goats for 2 hours. One of them kept screaming! Like full on human screaming. It was hilarious. His name was Leo.
Had exchanges on Tuesday so we got to go to Bend which meant CHICK-FIL-A!!!!
Started teaching 4 new people!
Crimped my hair with a tiny crimper and turned into professor Trelawney from Harry Potter
Handed out lil Christmas stockings and homemade fudge to all the people we are teaching, courtesy of Mama Cannon
Spent the day in Sisters which is a cute lil mountain town that basically looks like Starshollow from Gilmore Girls
CHRISTMAS
It's been fun. I can feel myself burning out though, haha, so that's good.
Spiritual thought:
I've been reading the Book of Mormon and I'm almost done, But The last couple books and chapters are always really hard for me because they are full of wars and bloodshed and carnage and bleh! It's sad, and very repetitive. Classic pride cycle... So as I was reading, it was like sandpaper to my psyche, and I was like "Heavenly Father! I do not enjoy reading this! But I know you put ALL of this in here for a reason, so pleeaassseee help me apply this to my life". And after I said amen, I came across verses 2 and 5 in Ether 23, which talk about new Jerusalem (The Americas) and Old Jerusalem in the east.
"...and after the waters had receded from off the face of this land (New Jerusalem) it became a choice land above all other lands, a chosen land of the Lord..." Then, "after [ Old Jerusalem] should be destroyed it should be built up again, a choly city unto the Lord..."
This was so interesting to me because both of these places had to be destroyed before they became holy. I think sometimes God does that with us -- breaks us before sanctifying us.
But it was really cool to not only receive that revelation, but also to be reminded that God does hear us and He does answer our prayers.
Love you all
MAKE THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT LAST ALL YEAR
